155Gd Mössbauer uses the 86.56 keV level which
is populated by the β-decay of 4.753 year 155Eu. This isotope was prepared by neutron irradiation of 154Sm as 154SmPd3 in the NRU reactor at Chalk River. |

The spectra at the left are our first set of test data. Starting from the top, we show: A simple quadrupole "doublet" from Gadolinium Stannate (Gd2Sn2O7) A two-site fit to a paramagnetic sample of cubic Gadolinium Oxide (Gd2O3) A magnetic pattern with no quadrupole interaction for GdFe2 The velocity scale was determined using simultaneous laser calibration. The samples and source were held at 5 K. |
