Dear colleagues, (version française en document joint)

this is an invitation for you, your postdoc(s) and especially your
students to give a presentation at the next Acfas congress in May 2006.
.. in French!

Acfas? Formerly acronym for "Association canadienne-francaise pour
l'avancement des sciences" (French-Canadian Association for the Progress
of Sciences), the Acfas has now broadened its scope and has become the
"Association francophone pour le savoir" (Francophone Association for
knowledge).

Each year, the congress attracts a very large community of participants
from all branches of sciences in Canada and from abroad. From May 15th to
May 19th, 2006, the event will take place at McGill University, in the
city of Montreal :-) and begs to be attended.

                 http://www.acfas.ca/congres

Within the congress, a particle/subatomic/astroparticle physics colloquium
had been submitted around the theme "Let's unite our forces!". The level
is generally that of advanced graduate students, hence a unique
opportunity for them to present their work and to refresh and practice
their knowledge of French in front of a sympathetic audience.

The presentations are generally short (20 minutes, except for the invited
speakers (40 minutes)) and will take place on the first two days, Monday
and Tuesday the 15th and 16th. Participation means submission (through
me) of a title and an abstract BEFORE February 10th, as well as mandatory
online registration to the congress, 177$ regular or 56$ for
students/retired before April 1st. This moreover entitles the member to
a one-year subscription to the excellent "Decouvrir" scientific magazine.

As soon as I have time, I will set up and maintain an information web page
at:

      http://www.physics.mcgill.ca/~corriveau/projects/acfas06.html

I would like to encourage you to contribute to the colloquium or to share
this occasion with your students or the members of your group.

Looking forward to hear from you!

François Corriveau
