Results related to brane world physics

Frédéric Leblond

McGill

I discuss two topics related to the brane world idea. To begin with I explain how one can get consistency conditions for brane world models of arbitrary codimension. As an example I present a particular six-dimensional spacetime consistent with the above mentioned conditions: the AdS soliton. In the second part of the talk I discuss models with large extra dimensions. In particular, I address how the geometry of the latter might affect field theory results on a brane where standard model fields are assumed to be confined.
