New Results from BaBar

Marko Milek

McGill

The talk will consist of three parts, roughly equal in lengths. First, a description of the experiment: the PEP-II asymmetric e+e- collider, the BaBar detector, and the data collected during the Run 1, lasting from October 1999 to October 2000. Second, an overview of the CP violation in the B system, a discussion of the primary physics result published by BaBar: 'Measurement of CP-Violating Asymmetries in B0 Decays to CP Eigenstates', and the prospects for measuring other angles of the unitarity triangle. Third, a measurement of the inclusive charmonium production in BaBar Run 1, including the first observation of the Jpsi production in the continuum below the Upsilon(4S) resonance.
