The Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO)

Aksel Hallin

Queen's University

The Sudbury Neutrino Observatory is a 1000 T heavy water Cerenkov detector, which has been operating in Inco's Creighton mine near Sudbury since 1999. We have recently published our first scientific paper which demonstrates that neutrinos that are not electron neutrinos are emitted from the sun. I will discuss this measurement, the observatory, our current status and our future analyses and plans.
