Testing parity in CMB spectra

Balaji Katlai

McGill

This talk is based on a recent work done with R.H. Brandenberger and D.A. Easson (hep-ph/0310368). In this talk, I will try to show that parity violation can induce optical birefringence in the CMB photons. An observable correlation of such an optical activity with the photon spectra could serve as an useful probe for parity violation. The actual form of spectral correlation is found to be sensitive to the nature of the parity violating interactions.
