Milagro - A New TeV Look at the Sky

Prof. Jordan Goodman

University of Maryland

There are many exciting questions in particle astrophysics. The origin of Gamma-ray bursts and the rapid variability of Active Galactic Nuclei are just two of the questions the Milagro detector is designed to study. Milagro is a large water-Cherenkov detector nearing completion in the mountains of New Mexico. This talk will discuss the physics questions to be addressed by Milagro, the progress on the detector and preliminary results from our prototype detector Milagrito.
