C.S. Lam McGill University 't Hooft proposed that the world is like a hologram, that physical information of a system is contained on its surface. This `holographic principle' of physical theories is certainly intriguing and provocative, but unfortunately I do not know exactly what it means. Depending on one's interpretation, this can either be ridiculous, trivial, or terribly profound. If you know exactly what it is please come and tell me about it.
