The inheritance of energy conditions

I will show how energy conditions can be used to provide a covariant and background-independent reformulation of no-go theorems in low-energy string theory in two steps. Firstly, I will show how supergravity actions typically obey many relevant energy conditions, under some reasonable assumptions. Then, I will list a set of requirements for a higher-dimensional energy condition to imply the corresponding lower-dimensional one, thereby categorizing allowed low-energy supergravity solutions.
