Theory HEP SeminarThe Unruh effect - An intimate dialogue between QFT and QITKamil BradlerMcGillA recent analysis of the Unruh effect from the viewpoint of quantum information theory (QIT) has revealed a completely unexpected connection between the Unruh effect and the class of quantum channels known as cloning channels. This physically important class of channels is closely related to so-called universal cloning machines. Exploiting this relation we were able to determine the classical and quantum capacity of quantum cloning channels. Capacity calculations of quantum channels are in general considered to be hard and only a limited number of channels enjoys this privilege. In this talk I will describe details of the analysis and conclude by asking whether the quantum information properties of the investigated channels can in return tell us something about the physics of the Unruh effect.
