Muon Physics of the 70's-80's: Decay Measurements

A review of some of the muon decay measurements made in the 70's and 80's will be presented, in particular of the observed decay positron polarisation. It will be shown how these measurements constrained our knowledge of the V-A character of the interaction, but without excluding sizable scalar, pseudoscalar or tensor contributions.
