Theory HEP SeminarWarped Dimensional ReductionAndrew FreyUniversity of WinnipegOver the last decade, novel compactifications have served as an active sandbox for models of cosmology, especially inflation, in string theory. However, a first-principles derivation of the relevant effective field theories from the 10D supergravity has remained elusive due to the presence of warping in the background geometry. We will review how dimensional reduction in the presence of warping differs from the familiar story on Calabi-Yau compactifications, and we will discuss progress made in the last few years understanding modes of particular interest to inflation.
