Particle Astrophysics SeminarNeutrino Astronomy at the South PoleAndreas GrossUniversity of DortmundNeutrino Astronomy is motivated by the ideal propagation properties of neutrinos and by the hope to solve the enigma of the origin of Cosmic Rays. The Antarctic Muon And Neutrino Detector Array (AMANDA) at the geographic South Pole is currently the most sensitive neutrino telescope. An overview of AMANDA and the used analysis techniques will be given. The focus of the talk will be set on the analysis of candidate neutrino sources. Dedicated methods which improve the sensitivity by the use of astronomical information are presented. A short outlook to the IceCube detector will be given.
