Geometry and Information in 2d Conformal Field Theory

The AdS/CFT correspondence predicts that entanglement simplifies dramatically in a large class of field theories as the number of degrees of freedom becomes large. I will describe how this simplification occurs in 2d conformal field theory, leading to a dual black hole description. The dual black hole is only an approximate description at low energies, and its breakdown in CFT is connected to the black hole information loss paradox.
