Double Copy of Yang-Mills and Double Field Theory

I explain recent work that establishes a very close relationship between Yang-Mills theory and Double Field Theory via a double copy construction that is inspired by techniques from scattering amplitudes. In contrast to the origin in scattering amplitudes, this double copy construction is off-shell and gauge invariant, using algebraic techniques from string field theory such as homotopy algebras.
