Seminar in Hadronic PhysicsHeavy quarkonium near TcSu Huong LeeYonsei UniversityIn 1986, Matsui and Satz noted that J/ψ suppression is an ideal signature to identify the formation of the quark-gluon plasma in a heavy ion collision. Thereafter, many experimental and theoretical works have been carried out on this subject with interesting and challenging results. I will report on the recent progress made to investigate the detailed properties of charmonium states below and above Tc. The inputs of our works are the changes of the gluon field configuration extracted from lattice QCD. We also discuss recent attempts to understand the R(AA) from heavy ion collision in light of our recent work on the properties of charmonium states near Tc. Relevant proposals to measure precursor phenomena from hadron-nucleus reactions are also discussed.
