>A phase-space operator method for string worldsheet theory and general covariance

An on-shell classical background in string theory corresponds to a conformal field theory on the worldsheet. For a non-trivial background the world-sheet theory is interacting and showing its conformal properties is a non-trivial problem. Following Kazama and Yokoi (2008) we use a phase-space operator method to study this problem in the context of type IIB Ramond-Ramond plane-wave background. In the second part of the talk we attempt to implement manifest general covariance in the present formulation following the argument of Bryce DeWitt (1952).
