Celestial w + infinity symmetries and asymptotic charge dynamics

Ana Maria Raclariu

PI

The analysis of scattering amplitudes in a conformal primary basis has recently uncovered infinite towers of symmetries extracted from a low energy expansion of gluons and gravitons. In this talk I will explain the origin of these symmetries in gravity from an asymptotic analysis. Motivated by the structure of the leading Einstein equations in a large-r expansion, I will first show that the tower of celestial symmetries imply a set of differential equations for an infinity of higher-spin charges together with appropriate boundary conditions. I will then provide evidence that these asymptotic charges form a representation of a w1+∞ algebra on the gravitational phase space.
