ROOT is an object oriented HEP analysis framework developed to handle large amount of data with the maximum of ease. This tutorial aims to explain its concepts and the basics of its use. The ATLAS particle physics project will be used as example but the program itself should be of interest to all researchers involved in data analysis.

It is assumed that each participant will bring a laptop with a network connection.
