Holographic Effective Theories for Condensed Matter Physics

In this talk I will review some recent results of using holography as a tool to study strongly coupled physics in condensed matter systems. Particularly, I will talk about potential applications of these techniques towards improving our understandings of high T_c superconductivty both in the normal and the superconducting phases.
