The Quantum Unique Ergodicity Conjecture

Ioannis Tsiares

McGill

The Quantum Unique Ergodicity conjecture (QUE) is a mathematical concept related to the field of quantum chaos, and has gained prominence due to the 2010 Fields Medal (awarded to E.Lindenstrauss) for the solution of the QUE in a particular case, namely for arithmetic surfaces (e.g. the modular domain). In this talk I will try to illustrate the basics of the conjecture, what is the physical motivation behind the mathematics and give an overview of its recent status.
